Oaks Middle School was bursting with energy as the 3nd annual Math Pentathlon kicked off on Saturday, April 29, 2017.  Over 240 students in grades 4-8 competed in 5 categories including Problem Solving, Mental Math, Construction, Estimation and Logic. During each of the 5 events, students worked as a team to solve a variety of complex math problems.

Taking home the top honors by grade level were: Elderberry’s 4th grade team, Corona’s 5th grade team, Vineyard’s 6th grade team, Serrano’s 7th grade team, and Serrano 8th grade team. Congratulations to all participating teams! You have proven that when we understand the math we are able to achieve accuracy, think more efficiently, and build flexible thinking.

A huge thanks goes out to all participants, coaches, parents and schools for making this event an experience to remember!
