Fourth Annual Cross Country Event

What a fantastic day for OMSD students and the Briggs Center neighborhood!  The fourth Annual Cross Country event brought together over 430 special needs and general education middle school students to compete and display sportsmanship as they ran over a mile through the Briggs Center neighborhood. Thanks to the partnership with the Ontario Police Department and the City of Ontario’s Public Works Department, streets were closed and made safe for students to run and enjoy the morning on the Cross Country route.

Superintendent Dr. James Hammond and Chaffey College Assistant Basketball Coach Prentice Harris shared words of encouragement to kick off the day. Briggs Center employees joined in by supporting Special Needs students in their race.

It was wonderful to see and hear the teams cheering on not only their teammates, but all runners on the course.  Congratulations to Oaks Middle School for taking first place, Wiltsey Middle School for taking second place, while De Anza Middle School took home the third place trophy. Individual medals were given to students who finished in the top six from each grade level.
